Confucianism Essay Example For Students

Confucianism Essay Confucianism Essay, the philosophical system founded on the teaching of Confucius, who lived from 551 BC to 479 BC, dominated Chinese sociopolitical life for most of the Chinese history and largely influenced the cultures of Korea, Japan, and Indochina. The Confucian school functioned as a recruiting ground for government positions, which were filled by those scoring highest on examinations in the Confucian classics. It also blended with popular and important religions and became the vehicle for presenting Chinese values to the peasants. The schools doctrine supported political authority using the theory of the mandate of heaven. It sought to help rulers maintain domestic order, preserve tradition, and maintain a constant standard of living for the tax paying peasants. Who is Confucius? Confucius was of noble descent in the state of Lu (modern Shantung). No records show him attending school even though Confucius was a well educated man. He had to make his own living at an early age. He started a political career at a young age, rising in the ranks, but fell faster than what he rose. His main goal in politics was to restore humanity and to convince various nobles to follow a certain guideline, but after he was dismissed from government, he never returned to public life. By the age of 20, Confucius decided to become a teacher, to try to change the world through what he teachers. He had a pattern of thinking that inspired many people, no matter what religion they were, most of East Asia and their way of thinking had Confucian elements in them. His policy was accept anyone as a disciple provided that the student is willing to learn. But the violent leaders at the time, paid no attention to any of his philosophies. Confucius was one of the first and few philosophers to leave a collection of writings behind as a source for all people (like the Bible for Catholics). History of Confucianism Confucius lived from 551BCE to 479BCE, during the Chou Dynasty, where in fact imperial rule was breaking down. High principled men originally founded then ran the Chou Dynasty, but by Confucius time, China was going through a very difficult period where conflicts and attacks had controlled the dynasty, while usurpers took over land, this dynasty was corrupt. This period of political turmoil (770BCE-221BCE) started a new era of a ;hundred schools; where teachers, such as Confucius, would move from state to state teaching their other people about their ideas and morals. This was also the time though, where prisoners were put to death in mass executions, soldiers were paid when they presented the severed heads of the enemy, whole populations that were captured were beheaded and there were accounts of the conquered being boiled to death in a soup and the family being forced to drink the human soup. There was something seriously wrong with the justice and equality in this dynasty, that th e philosophy of Confucius could help. The development of Confucianism came to an all of a sudden stop during the Chin dynasty (221BCE-206BCE) where the First Emperor didnt approve of the Confucian ideas, therefore declared that anyone who differed with the state in their ideas, were killed, and all of Confucius teachings and books were to be burnt. After the death of the Emperor, the Chin dynasty was overthrown by the Han dynasty, where Confucianism was not only re-introduced, but became the dominant school of thought among imperial officials. But not long after this happening, the new leaders were convinced that having a foot in Confucian philosophy, is leading you the right way in life. What happened after the death of Confucius? Confucius believed that he didnt achieve anything in life and that he was a failure, but if this was so, the legend and teachings of Confucius, and Confucianism would of died, but it didnt, instead it lived on through the analects, through Mencius and through Neo-Confucianism. The modesty clause stated that each participant s contract could be renewed by the squad season after season, for every bit long as the nine wished. The modesty list was sent to each squad by the conference. Teams had to put the names of reserved participants on the list, and other squads were non allowed to offer contracts to participants that were on the list. This system edge participants to squads and allowed proprietors to deject wages of participants. The 2nd factor was the development of viing conferences. Competing conferences such as the American Football League, the American Baseball Association, the World Hockey Association, and the United States Football League offered an alternate to jocks ( Masteralexis, 246 ) . These conferences offered higher wages to bring on participants to travel from their original squads. When participants left a squad to for more money, it besides increased the wages of participants who stayed on the squad. Agents played a important function in finding what was best for jocks, and which league they should take. The 3rd ground for the growing of Sports Agency is the development of participants associations. The constitution of free bureau made a big topographic point for Sports Agents to make their work. Fourth, as participants wages increased, the demand for fiscal advice increased. Athletes such as Michael Jordan and Shaquille O Neal have starred in gesture images. Agents play a big function in aid ing jocks make the passage and concern minutess to set up ventures outside of athletics. While there is no needed grade to be a athleticss agent, there are eight indispensable maps that athleticss agents have to be able to execute. Harmonizing to Lester ( 1990 ) , this measure includes developing a program in which each indorsement creates an image consistent with the athlete s aspirations and long scope ends. However, the jocks calling may be short, therefore it is the agents occupation to do certain that the athlete maximizes net incomes and public exposure during his or calling ( Lester, 1990 ) . The footings include endorsed merchandises, contract district, length, one-year base compensation, fillip compensation, in-kind compensation, signature merchandises, promotional attempts made by the company, personal visual aspects, the athlete s blessing of company adver tisement, if the jock will use/wear the merchandise, and company protection of athlete indorsement ( Lester, 1990 ) . In negociating athlete s indorsement contracts, agents play the function of the jobber, contending for the best trade for his or her client. Fiscal be aftering serves as the 5th map that agents are responsible for. This measure covers banking and hard currency flow direction, revenue enhancement planning, investing advising, estate planning, and hazard direction. This is where an instruction serves agents good. Many times at that place have been legal instances refering fraud between athlete s and their agents. Athletes look for educated agents because it is though that they may be better trusted. These agents are thought to be honest with the athlete s money, and besides misidentify free with the money. This measure is the chief splitter between agents with instructions and agents without an instruction. The following map is calling and station calling planning. This measure includes agents assisting jocks make the passage to a professional athletics and once more with the passage into retirement ( Masteralexis, 1998 ) . The mean calling length varies by athletics, but is by and large under five old ages. Therefore, it is the agent s occupation to maximise gaining possible during and after the athlete s playing calling. At the same clip it is the agents occupation to protect the jock from overexposure. The agent must equilibrate the demand to maximise exposure with making what is best personally and professionally for the jock ( Masteralexis, 1998 ) . This map besides includes the agent puting clip, energy, and money into the athlete s calling before the participant has made it large. If the jock s calling doesn Ts take off, this consequences in the agent losing money. Dispute declaration follows calling and station calling planning on the list of maps. Dispute declaration is slightly self-explanatory. It includes the agent deciding differences with the conference, squad, teammates, fans, referees or umpires, the media, and indorsement companies. Renowned baseball agent Dennis Gilbert likens the function of the agent to a shield, saying that it is the agent s undertaking to screen the jock from the concerns that go along with deciding differences ( Schwarz, 1996 ) . Surfing online has become a common hobby and a popular way to communicate. Social media plays a significant role nowadays as people use it on a regular basis for numerous purposes. The use of this innovation, however, has led to several consequences. As people become constant users of social media and spend much time online, the web starts affecting their lifestyle and bringing noticeable changes to society, both beneficial and negative ones. Introducing social media has affected the overall approach to communication. Nowadays, it is much easier to keep in touch with friends and relatives than ever. With access to the web, people chat online that is quick and easy. It is possible to text someone in another part of the world and receive a reply in seconds. Each of the Internet users has the opportunity to chat with friends and family almost all day long. Because of this accessibility, online communication has become the most popular way of sharing thoughts. However, it results in a lack of live communication: people prefer online conversations to live meetings. While chatting on social media is useful, it also can cause some issues as people become too humble to talk in real life. Texting in social media provides the illusion of communication, so people experience problems with real socializing. It leads to a decrease in social activity, feeling of loneliness, and reduced self-esteem. Social media influences not only communication but economics as well. For many people, online platforms have become not just a hobby, but also a full-time work. This innovation opened new opportunities for people and an entirely new job segment. Thus, everyone can earn money without leaving home. It is widely popular nowadays to buy different things online, so there are many shops across social media. Bloggers also earn money with their content as they use monetization. Photographers, writers, SMM managers, and people of other professions find a new application for their professional skills in social media as well. With the development of social media, people are encouraged to construct their worldview by themselves and develop critical thinking skills. In the past, the population had no such access to the information, so that their points of view could be formed by authorities and manipulated easily. Nowadays, even the most accurate political manipulation or the smallest inaccuracy can be investigated through the Internet and international communication. Internet and its social media platforms are the only source of information that includes various points of view so that people are free to research and formulate their own opinions. In this way, social media introduces freedom and non-interference, so that any user can compare his or her thoughts with contrasting and checking them. The variety of ideas and differences between them teaches people to think critically, be aware of the information and use it accurately. Even though it is advantageous in various ways, social media provokes strong addiction. Although this type of addiction is not defined by medical manuals yet, the problem becomes more essential each day. Pew Research Center informs that 92% of teens use the Internet daily (Lenhart para.2). Checking feed on Facebook, Instagram, and other social media is entertaining, yet it consumes much time and makes the user crave for new content. The usual user spends two hours a day surfing the social media platforms (Mander para.2). Numerous addicts always take their gadgets with them and check them regularly. Some students cannot even refuse to use social media during the class, while workers procrastinate in their workplace using the web. Such addiction leads to loss of interest in other things, reduced productivity, and time waste. The overuse of online platforms leads to reduced attention span and overall memory deficit. The average user of any of the social media platforms looks through thousands of posts with various content: those might be videos, photos, texts, and so one. Each post can be skipped in a moment so that the attention changes rapidly. As a result, it has become more difficult to concentrate on one thing for a certain amount of time as people are used to quick switches of attention. Moreover, the amount of the perceived information is so immense that the brain has to remove the unnecessary details. This aspect may be tricky because the necessary information may not be memorized as well. Thus, the use of social media affects memory and attention. Another effect of social media on the lives of people is stress and anxiety it provides. As the Internet involves millions of people all around the world, communication has become stressful and even dangerous. While in real life any person has an opportunity to control its’ circles of communication, the Internet forces to face various users. The web provides unlimited access to accounts of numerous people, their comments, and the content they upload. This approach leads to freedom, as the content is almost not controlled. Anyone is pleased to express any thoughts; however, sometimes it causes bullying, violence, and another negative issues. Reading comments for fun or checking random video may become a stressful experience, while chatting with a stranger may end up with offenses. It is clear that such interactions are not always pleasant. Social media provide human lives with a noticeable amount of negative issues which often affects the mood and results in stress. Young people may be affected by the web, as they form unrealistic expectations about nearly everything in this life relationships, beauty, appearance, family, lifestyle, and various other aspects. Instagram feed is full of fit bodies and pretty faces of bloggers, models, and celebrities. Observing selfies daily often leads to wrong expectations about beauty and appearance: as many bloggers look skinny, healthy, and attractive the teenager may assume that long legs and full lips are a must. Moreover, most people seem to share their life with their followers and avoid talking about faults and problems. In social media, people present their life as appealing as they can. As a result, one might feel miserable because everyone else is successful and happy that is not always true. Teenagers also learn about relationships, while their parts presented in the Web are usually far from reality. As people want to share only the positive sides of their life and present themselves from the best p erspectives, the whole image of life is misunderstood. Teenagers try to fit in those standards they see online, yet their expectations are mostly wrong. Moreover, such unrealistic expectations and trends of social media create noticeable pressure, which might be challenging to overcome. One notices the difference between themselves and the perfect image in the social media, and these differences disappoint them. Furthermore, as the Internet has become the most convenient place to share information, most of the trends are born online. Those trends might vary from haircuts and nail art ideas to subcultures and â€Å"fashionable† professions. Trends demand people follow fashion and consume more. Even though the differences between the expectations and reality with current trends may motivate one to progress, they also create a significant pressure, which leads to negative experience, disappointment, and even mental health issues. Another impact social media produces is lack of sleep. Social media provides users with various content, and it is almost impossible to review it all. Therefore, the constant flow of new information creates the interest that often results not only in addiction but in insufficient sleep as well. The users sleep less and go to bed later because of the web. Furthermore, people gain problems with sleep because of the messages, which interrupt the sleep and distract their attention. It is highly likely between the teenagers to wake up at night to check notifications in their social media accounts. In this way, people gain sleeping issues that influence their mood, productivity during the day, and health in a long-term perspective. To sum up, the development of new technologies and social media, in particular, has resulted in various changes in the everyday lives of people all around the world. Online platforms change the approach to communication, create new segments in the field of economics, and encourage people to use critical thinking skills. However, there are various disadvantageous effects of this phenomenon that include addiction, changes in mood, lack of sleep, pressure, attention span reduction, and other issues. For example, there are a number of weird, random scholarships out there for people who happen to have certain last names or characteristics (like being left-handed), and there are even more scholarships for people who have more conventional qualities, such as an interest in art or music. Rule 2: Be Meticulous Follow the required instructions for every essay and question. Pay particular attention to supporting documents that you will need to send with your applications, and keep on top of deadlines. As mothers, you're short enough on free time as it is- don't make it worse by spending time on incomplete or incorrect applications that will get you nowhere! You will likely find that you are not the only parent at your school- see if you can coordinate childcare with others so that you can get the most for your money. Also, see if your school offers any special aid or discounts for parents to provide their children with safe housing and hot meals. Qualitative Educational Research in Theory and Practice Essay

Qualitative Educational Research in Theory and Practice - Essay Example There are various oriental approaches used for understanding the different phenomena in life. One such way of viewing the world is positivism. Positivism is philosophical science based information derived from mathematical and logical source of knowledge (Cohen, Manion & Morrison 2011, pp. 12). Auguste Comte developed the paradigm in the 19th century with an objective viewpoint on stability of reality while basing various arguments on historical perspectives. Positivism is also the act of manipulating independent variables while maintaining others constant, in a bid, to identify the relationship between various elements of the world. The predictions in positivism may rely on past, or previous realities explained in the historical tradition. Notably, positivism discredits the existence of human knowledge in the society. It remains based on this regards that various discussions have arisen to counter the paradigm of positivism. The paradigms relationship with natural and physical scien ces for instance, as remained a point of controversy. The paradigm reiterates that action within the society is similar to reactions that the physical world remits towards the absolute laws such as gravity (Cohen, Manion & Morrison 2011, pp. 24). Positivism has generated an argument between poetry and philosophy hence creating a rift in the education systems. For instance, there has been a widening gap between humanities and sciences a factor brought misunderstanding in the education. Positivism advocates for superiority of sciences over the human mind thoughts for the reasons that the human mind provides non-inward knowledge. It furthermore promotes the use of scientific knowledge in judgmental decisions while disregarding other disciplines. Positivism believes reality exists; however, it is composed of various discrete elements (Cohen, Manion & Morrison 2011, pp. 28). This means that reality in positivism is any phenomena with a single objective reiterating a solitary world. This has greatly influenced the education system considering the rift generated by the explanation. For instance, positivism regards social sciences as fallacious. This is the act of treating an abstract concept as having a real existence (May 2001, pp 44). This leads to causal efficacy between the two disciplines that fight over the impartial treatment of abstraction. Realism is the most common philosophical perspective, which holds the thought of a relationship and trust in non-observable concepts. Apart from causing confusion in education systems, positivism also promotes reification. Marxist philosophers like berger and Pullberg 1966 demise social sciences, while giving attention to reification (Cohen, Manion & Morrison 2011, pp. 36). The Marxist theory, on the other hand, associates social sciences to capitalism a factor, which further complicates the education system. According to the theory, societal institutions have changed their role influencing existence of people. Use of posi tivism in the current education systems, therefore, not only causes confusion, but it also violates the integrity of history. It arouses negative feelings, creating biases towards various occurrences in life. It suggests elements of dishonesty in the process of creating various systems (May 2001, pp 67). Positivism does not derive conclusions on a subjective approach. Consequently, positivism does not give priority to emotion or feelings to interfere with the process of judgment. The basis of this argument is the fact that these aspects get

Analytical Examination Essay Example for Free

Analytical Examination Essay This paper will analyze about the RA 10354 also called Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act of 2012. This essay will present a short history of the law here in the Philippines until it become enacted and implemented. This will discuss the major provisions of the law together with its important contents ranging from health care to contraception. This will also discuss the issues that are connected to this law while it was a bill such as maternal death, early pregnancy, premarital sex, poverty and population and reproductive health education. Issues concerned with legislation of the bill such as the necessity and morality of the bill and its contents like contraception and reproductive health education will be especially presented. Other news which may have affected the support for the bill will be also presented and analyzed. This will also present the major groups that approve or oppose the said law together with their reasons why they want or are against the said law. This will also talk about the actions those groups have taken for or against the law which may have affected the support for the bill’s implementation. This is also concerned with the voices of certain world organizations such as UNESCO and WHO on reproductive health education and the stand of the Church on the matter about contraception, self-continence and marriage. This will be concerned about their statement about the matter and the doctrines and values they adhere with. Summary Since its first proposition on 1988, the Reproductive Health Bill experienced many debates if it was really needed here in the Philippines. The proposition was changed and improved by a number of proponents many times but was mostly neglected. Then, a similar bill was also introduced in the first regular session of the 14th Congress by Albay Rep. Edcel C. Lagman, Jannette L. Garin, Narciso D. Santiago III, Mark Llandro Mendoza, Ana Theresia Hontiveros-Baraquel and Elandro Jesus F. Madrona that was known as House Bill 5043. Like that of the former bills, it was also disposed but its proponents never stop to improve, change and remove some parts of the former bill to create a new one. Many times Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman and its principal authors would edit the bill until the Reproductive Bill of 2012 was formed. Senator Pia Cayetano was also a principal sponsor of such bill. Upon December 19, 2012, the Senate enacted the bill and on December 21, 2012, four days before Christmas His Presidency, Benigno Aquino III signed the bill and was to be implemented fifteen days after its official publication. The law was known as RA 10354 or Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act of 2012. Its major provisions are to promote and have access to reproductive health care and methods that are legal and safe, to promote family planning methods and responsible parenthood, to counsel women who committed abortion in a humane way, to mandate reproductive health education in age appropriateness to students, to supply and maintain reproductive health services to all, to protect reproductive health rights and to penalize those who restricts or prohibits the access to reproductive health care and methods stated in this law. The law mandates the hire of skilled health professionals for maternal health care and birth attendance, seen in Sec. 5. It also promotes the upgrade of health care facilities for obstetric and newborn care as stated in Sec. 6 and to access for family planning methods especially to the poor and marginalized couple and to sexually active minors as said in Sec. 7. The law also states that â€Å"hormonal contraceptives, intrauterine devices, injectables and other safe, legal, non-abortifacient and effective family planning products and supplies†(RA 10354, Sec. 9) should be treated in the Essential Drugs List after subjection to reputable medical associations. It also mandates the procurement and distributions of family-planning supplies and age appropriate reproductive health education, stated in Sec. 10 and 14 respectively. And lastly, to condemn any who shall prohibit the access to health care and family-planning supplies. Since its first introduction by Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman, this law had reaped many opposition and approval before being enacted. The pro-woman groups fought for saving the lives of woman from maternal death on the other hand the Church and other pro-life groups fought for dignity of the unborn and the sanctity of marriage. The senate itself was divided for selecting to if they will oppose or approve the bill. The Former President and Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was known to opposed the bill and be backed upon by the Church meanwhile President Benigno Aquino III shown agreement towards the bill and expected its implementation. The pronouncement of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI to condoms also became news if the Church was open to contraception. This gave new hope for Edcel Lagman from acceptance of the Church but Paranaque Rep. Roilo Golez explained that the Pope talks about health, that preventing HIV from spreading is showing compassion but the Pope doesn’t said to use condoms to prevent pregnancy. Issues also attract the said bill. First, is about the legislation of the bill, if it was really relevant here in the country with regards to overpopulation, Availability/Provisions for RH information and healthcare for mothers and children. Another issue is if the RH Bill is moral, if the Church must interfere with the State and if the government is willing to give funds to the bill. Third, is about the consequence of a widespread of contraceptives with regards to health and sexual behavior. The last is concerned in the need of sex education in the country. The CBCP together with the national Church felt that it was time to educate again its faithful and made efforts on counteracting the bill. The Church turned offering masses, praying for the enlightenment of congressmen and women and explained that principles of the bill undermine the sanctity of life and marriage. They stated that overpopulation was not the problem but corruption and the unequal distribution of people. They seek to get online, and used CBCP for Life for addressing the matter and let the Simbang Gabi 2012 be used for educating the faithful. They also made catechisms with themes regarding the RH. Meanwhile, pro-woman and pro-RH group also organize plans for the bill. They have tied violet ribbons on their arm signifying their fight against HIV-AIDS. Informed people about gender inequality, maternal deaths, teenage pregnancy and HIV-AIDS and that the bill would help minimize or eliminate such problems. UNESCO and WHO also promotes the education of youths regarding reproductive health. They state that benefits such as a delay in sexual initiation; reduction of unwanted pregnancies, child abuse and abortion; and a slower spread of HIV could be obtained. It can also induce progress to gender equity, social participation and partnership. It prepares the youths for responsibility as adults, emphasizes health promotion and can improve relevance in education systems. Meanwhile, the Catholic Church holds its deposit of faith centered on Divine Love and Unity in Marriage. Its Catechism says that Marriage is by which a man and a woman establish intimate communion for life which is ordered for the good of the spouse and the procreation and education of children,(1660, Catechism of the Catholic Church). It also states that the total reciprocal self-giving is overlaid through contraception for it is a refusal for the total giving of self through taking away openness to life,( 2370,Catechism of the Catholic Church). It states that even intercourse with a legitimate wife but taking away the power to generate life is contrary to God’s will and leaves guilt of a grave sin,(55-56, Casti Connubii). The Church also teaches the virtue of chastity, that the couple must exercise conjugal love and fidelity and that of safeguarding life form the moment of conception, (51, Gaudium et Spes). She teaches that Marriage can never justify sexual intercourse which is contraceptive which oppose to its true meaning and that artificial methods could lead to marital infidelity and lowering moral standards, reduction of woman as mere object of satisfaction and intervening of public authorities to the most personal and intimate responsibilities of couples, (14,17; Humanae Vitae). It also addresses the value of self-discipline to repel inordinate self-interests and to control the passions of the body,(21, Humanae Vitae). References Software Ecumenical Council of Vatican II. College Hazing Essay -- College University Student Hazing Violence

Hazing in universities across the nation has become an increasingly dangerous ritual that is seemingly becoming more difficult to put an end to due to its development into an â€Å"underground† activity. Though a regular activity in the seventies, hazing, a possible dangerous act of initiation to a group, has now become an activity that is banned in thirty-nine states (Wagner 16). However, this ritual has not been stopped or become less severe. In fact it is becoming more dangerous. Since it has been banned, with many colleges imposing their own penalties against those participating in it, many fraternities and sororities have pursued this activity in an underground fashion. Since these groups have gone underground, some victims of these rituals have been injured and subsequently died. This is due to the â€Å"hazers† not seeking medical treatment for the victims, for fear that they may be fined or charged by police or campus authorities. One estimate states that at lea st sixty-five students have died between the years of 1978 and 1996 from beatings and stress inflicted during fraternity initiation rites (â€Å"Greek† 26). Hazing has been defined in the Pennsylvania Hazing Law as â€Å"any action or situation which recklessly or intentionally endangers the mental or physical safety of a student or which destroys or removes public or private property for the purpose of initiation or admission into or affiliation with, or as a condition for continued membership in, any organization operating under the sanction of or recognized as an organization by an institution of higher education. The term shall include, but not be limited to, any brutality of a physical nature, such as whipping, beating, branding, forced calisthenics, exposure to the elements, forced consumption of any food, liquor, drug, or other substance, or any forced physical activity which could adversely affect the physical health and safety of the individual, and shall include any activity which would subject the individual to extreme mental stress, such as sleep deprivation, forced exclusion from social contact, forced conduct which could r esult in extreme embarrassment, or any other forced activity which could adversely affect the mental health or dignity of the individual†(â€Å"Pennsylvania Hazing Law† 1). Breaking a Social Norm

In our society we have a number of society norms that we abide by. For example, there is an unwritten rule of how one should behave in an elevator. For example, it is proper to face front, stand away from strangers, and not to look at others. When a social norm is broken people may respond with alarm, humor, fear, irritation, or an array of other emotions. When you think of a norm, you are probably thinking about being normal. But in psychology terms, norm means, a standard or representative value for a group. The norm that is more common to people is a social norm. Meaning expectations about what behavior, thoughts, or feelings are appropriate within a given group within a given context. In society today us as people decide what is normal and abnormal. I surveyed five people and asked them two questions of what they thought was normal and abnormal. The first question was â€Å"Do you think dressing weird out in the public eye is normal†? There response were â€Å"No, because everybody does that anyway. † My next question was, â€Å"Does being rude to an elder normal? There response was â€Å" No, you have to give respect to older people. † Well, I did this survey to get an idea on what people thought of what was normal and what wasn’t. This survey also helped me chose a norm to break. When I broke the norms I actually broke two and didn’t even know it until I was done with my acting. The two social norms that I broke were, wearing pajamas to the movie theatre with my boyfriend and being rude to authority such as elders. When my boyfriend picked me up for the movies, he just looked at me strangely.I know he wanted to ask why did I have on pajamas but he just kept quiet. By the way I did bring a extra pair of clothes with me, so I wouldn’t look like an idiot that whole night. Well anyway, on our way to the movies, my boyfriend just kept staring at me, but mind you he never said a word. When we went to get the tickets I r eceived many looks from people and heard many whispers around me. There was a couple standing behind us and they were saying, â€Å"How could he let his girlfriend come out the house looking like that†?I wanted to turn around and say something but I just kept my cool and said to myself, â€Å"This is only a test Cynthia don’t let them get to you. † Once I finished talking to myself I was relieved and ready to go into the movies. While walking into the movies, I received more looks and heard more whispers coming out of people which really didn’t make sense. All they had to do was just except me for who I was and that I was wearing clothes. After I got tired of the looks and whispers I changed my clothes and walked back in movie theatre.Once again my boyfriend looked at me strangely and said, â€Å" Why did you change†? When I finally broke it down to him that I was doing a project for psychology he started to laugh. His response towards me was, he w as going to love me no matter how I come out the house. I thought that was cute, that let me know that he doesn’t care what people think and that he was always going to be with me no matter how I look. When I broke the norm of how I look, I felt really insecure about myself and I really did care of what people were going to say about me.But I did learn this people are very judgmental on a person that they have no clue about. The other norm that I broke was going against authority. The authority that I went against was my mom during Thanksgiving dinner. When I did this norm, I really felt bad because, me and my mom are so close and I would never had disrespect her the way I did when breaking this norm. My mom had asked me to pass her the cranberry sauce. I responded and said, â€Å"Don’t you have arms to reach for it†. My mom gave me that look like I’m going to get you when we get home.Everybody at the table just stopped eating and looked at me like I was stupid. I just kept eating like nothing ever happened. Once everybody finished their dinner, I had to quickly make an announcement saying, this was just an experiment to see your reactions to my actions of today. Nobody believed me until I showed them the instructions on the computer. Once everybody read it, they said my teacher would get me into a lot of trouble doing projects like this. When I broke this norm, I destroyed the relationship between my mother and the rest of the family that was at the dinner table. Breaking a Social Norm In our society we have a number of society norms that we abide by. Hunger Games power of appearance Essay

In the novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, the main character Katniss, is influenced not only be her personal wants and needs but also by the emotions of the people watching her. By carefully controlling the things she says and does, Katniss aims to present herself to the audience the way she wants them to percieve her. She aims to appear in love with Peeta in order to capture the hearts of the audience and the capital. She shows that she is smart and skilled in hopes of gaining sponsors. Lastly, she acts innocent to deceive President Snow. Strategically, she appears each of these ways at different times all in hopes of staying alive, wining the games and hopefully returning home to her family. While it may seem as if Katniss’ act to win over the audience began when she volunteered in place of her sister Prim at the reaping, this action came more out of love and protection for her sister than out of a desire to earn fans. Her real act starts during the opening ceremonies. Throughout this time, she begins to realize that if she is going survive she will have to hide her often hostile and unfriendly demeanor and appear likable to the audience who is ultimately responsible for keeping her alive. Her mentor, Haymitch, tells her that she has â€Å"as much charm as a dead slug† (117) which will get her nowhere with her new audience. When she appears during the opening ceremonies in the gown of fire holding Peetas’ hand, they stun the people of the capital with their beauty and togetherness and win their hearts for the first time. After this outing she must keep her appearance of togetherness strong if she has any desire to go far. Following the ceremonies, Peeta gave her a sweet smile, which she responds to with a kiss on the cheek all the while thinking to herself, â€Å"two can play that game† (72). This forced reaction is the start of her appearance and act of love. This desire to act in love with Peeta is the driving desire throughout the novel. This love is what really gives Katniss a chance in winning the games because not only does it make Katniss appear desirable, but also their togetherness makes the audience want them to survive. When Peeta first tells the audience during his interview with Caesar Flickerman that there is â€Å"one girl†(138) he has had a crush on forever and follows this by saying â€Å"she came here with me†(138) the audience immediately knows it must be Katniss and their relationship as star crossed lovers becomes a genuine thing for the audience to follow. While in the arena, Katniss is initially on her own, but without her knowledge, Peeta is continuing their romantic appearance by making choices that help keep Katniss alive. The popularity of their romance is what Katniss believes led to the rule change allowing two tributes from the same district to win. This rule change acted as the turning point in Katniss’ presentation of herself. Up until this point, all she has done is â€Å"managed not to kill him† (247) but when the rule changes she realizes it is time to fall in love again. She starts right away with a smile towards the camera in hopes of displaying to the capital her thrill that she no longer has to kill her one true love. Now it becomes Katniss’ turn to play into the â€Å"star crossed lover† theme by finding Peeta and saving his life. When caring for Peeta, she kisses him for the first time and is rewarded with a pot of hot broth and the connection between affection and rewards is cemented in place. If she wants to keep Peeta and herself alive she is going to have to give the audience something to really care about. â€Å"Star crossed lovers desperate to get home together. Two hearts beating as one. Romance,† (261) she thinks to herself, understanding that this is her ticket to win. The appearance of love is very difficult for Katniss to portray because not only is she not in love with Peeta, but she has never been in love. She turns the cave that they take refuge in into a love nest to help develop their love story. They spend many nights curled up together with kisses strategically timed to strengthen their romance for the audience. â€Å" I lean over and give Peeta a long, lingering kiss. I imagine the teary sighs emanating from the Capitol and pretend to brush away a tear of my own.†(281) Her believability is crucial to maintain fans and with time she hones her skills, knowing that the more in love she acts the better her chances of survival. When it comes down to saving Peeta’s life, Katniss must go to the feast and get him the medicine. While she knows this is risking her life, she also knows that just sitting there and watching him die is not an option and â€Å"the audience would hate (her)†(275) for that. The audience support is crucial so late in the games and having them hate her is no way to receive any help. Again, as a result of her good acting the audience follows through by sending her sleep syrup for Peeta, which allows her to go to the feast and get what will hopefully be medicine. This medicine saved Peetas’ life, subsequently saving her lover act. When they are on the verge of starvation, she knows she must improve her appearance of love to the audience in order to get help from a sponsor. She does this expertly, when talking to Peeta about having her attention. She tells him he doesn’t, â€Å"have much competition anywhere† (302) followed by a meaningful kiss. This does the trick and within a minute they are receiving a parachute filled with a feast and in her head she can hear Haymitches’ words saying, â€Å"Yes, that’s what I’m looking for sweetheart.†(302) If she had not played up their love in this situation they may have both starved to death ruining any chance of making it home. Her presentation of love continues until the very end, when they are the last two left and the rule changes to only allow one victor. How could Katniss possibly kill her â€Å"lover†? As an answer to this, they hold poisonous berries in their hands, kiss goodbye, and put them to their lips. In the nick of time, the trumpets blare announcing both as victors. Their love, which Katniss played up throughout the games, allowed them both to survive and the audience to have their happy ending. The necessity to keep the appearance of love alive does not end after the games are over. Because of her stint with the berries in the arena, Katniss is in trouble with the capital for showing them up. Haymitch warns her that her only defense is that, â€Å"you were so madly in love you weren’t responsible for your actions† (357). Now appearing in love is not only directed towards the audience but specifically towards the Gamemakers and President Snow. Love kept her alive in the arena and she needs it again to stay alive now that she is out. The girl-driven- crazy-by-love must now be coupled with an air of innocence if she wants to survive. As soon as she is in front of the audience and reunited with Peeta the desperation to look in love hits her, and she is practically on top of him kissing him all over. During the closing interview, her look of love is crucial and she follows through talking about how she first knew she was in love with him when there was the rule change and the â€Å"chance she could keep him†(368). She adds to this saying she is going to put him somewhere where he cannot get hurt, which is met with a sigh from the audience. When defending her decision with the berries she keeps the appearance going explaining what was going on in her mind, â€Å"I don’t know, I just.. Couldn’t bear the though of †¦being without him.†(369) This seals the deal of love and innocence, which keeps her and Peeta alive†¦for now. While appearing in love with Peeta was the major way Katniss was able to get sponsors and survive, it was not the only way she aimed to present herself. Showing the audience that she was skilled, strong and smart was also an important part of her survival in the games. Not only were these attributes a literal part of her survival but by presenting herself strategically in these ways, coupled with her loveable side she was able to really win over her fan base. The first time the audience learns she is skilled is by her extremely high training room score of 11. She earns this score with her jaw dropping performance with the bow and arrow, but no one outside the game makers knows how she received it. After starting out with such a bang, once in the arena she must hold the audience’s attention if she wants to be noticed. She first thinks about her camera performance when she says, â€Å"I need to look one step ahead of the game,†(164) cocking her head slightly and giving th e camera a knowing smile. This occurs when faced with the surprise that Peeta has grouped up with the careers. She figures this way she can appear to the capital to be on top of things rather than show the perplexity she truly feels. When she senses that she has the screen of the capital, she is careful to hide her emotions and consider the reaction each of her behaviors might have. By hiding her emotions and showing her mental strength she shows the audience that she will be able to make it far in the games and that she is a deserving tribute for them to bet on and sponsor. She shows her physical strength after being attacked by the fire and contracting serious burns, â€Å"pity does not get you aid. Admirations at your refusal to give in do†(179) she thinks to herself as a response to her pain. Her perseverance shows that she is deserving of help when she really needs it. The burn cream she receives that enables her to be productive again is a gift from sponsors that see her potential because the way she has presented herself. Katniss understands that the events in the arena are all for show and her ability to portray herself in certain fashions allow her to be partially in control of this show. Her ability to hone her appearance to be one of love, strength, skill and smarts is what in the end enables her to win the Hunger Games. If she had approached the games as a normal competition rather than a televised event, her success would have been arguably different.

Establishing Working Relationships With A Group Is Essential Social Work Essay Example

Establishing Working Relationships With A Group Is Essential Social Work Essay Example Establishing Working Relationships With A Group Is Essential Social Work Essay Establishing Working Relationships With A Group Is Essential Social Work Essay It is of paramount importance that by edifice and developing a good working relationship we are able to endeavor to set up and keep their trust and assurance in line with 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 of GSCC codifications of pattern ( Trevithick, 2006 ) . However, holding merely completed the 75 yearss arrangement within a twenty-four hours service for grownups with larning disablement this can sometimes be a ambitious undertaking due to the complex nature of this service user group. In this essay I will exemplify how I worked and established a working relationship with service user J in order to assist him develop new accomplishments but chiefly to take down his aggression towards others in the twenty-four hours Centre. Furthermore, I will besides discourse how I brought the relationship to a stopping point. I will split the essay into five subdivisions. The first subdivision will discourse the description of the work. The 2nd subdivision will supply an analysis of procedure which the relationship was established. The 3rd subdivision will place awaited and existent barriers in the relationship. The 4th subdivision will speak in deepness how the relationship was brought to a stopping point. The concluding subdivision will supply an rating of my success ( if any ) in set uping the relationship with J. The essay will than be concluded.A A A A A A Barncroft Day Centre provides developmental preparation for people with learning disablement, in the age scope 16+ , in order that they can populate more independently in the community. Peoples in the twenty-four hours Centre are known as pupils instead than service users as this prevents labelling. It presently has 60 pupils runing from mild to severe larning disablement that accesses the twenty-four hours services full and portion clip. A Part of my function at the administration was to assist service users develop new accomplishments which would profit them in their life. Therefore, for my arrangement I was asked by my onsite supervisor to work with J. A J is a 40 nine twelvemonth old male who has the developmental age of 7-8 twelvemonth old and besides suffers from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder ( OCD ) . He came to Bancroft from Willow Woods twenty-four hours Centre after a figure of serious incidents with anxiousness and aggressive looks frequently being influenced by his sister who besides attended Willow forests at the clip and who he has a bad relationship with. He is a pleasant, polite and gracious adult male who enjoys being helpful and active nevertheless, on occasions J may exhibit effusion of aggression towards others ensuing in really serious incidents. J was non born with his larning disablement and hence, it has been assessed that this may lend for his aggression as he may non be happy with his state of affairs. His effusions can happen all of a sudden and can be mostly triggered by others non moving in conformity with his regulations or outlooks of appropriate actions or behavior, whereby he will take it on himself to s tep in physically. A A A Therefore, the purpose of the battle was to set up, construct and prolong a relationship with J for the full continuance of my arrangement ( 75 yearss ) . The intent of this is to hold a attention worker/student relationship to profit J by working with him and happening ways to take down his episodes of aggression towards others and as a consequence Begin organizing new relationship. Another purpose was to learn him life accomplishments for e.g. sharing, working with other service users, assisting him with his OCD and bettering get bying mechanisms. However, it should be noted that I was cognizant 70 five yearss may non give me adequate clip to do a important betterment in his life. A A A Due to the jobs J had with his sister in the yesteryear, female staff at Barncroft found it really hard to work with him. Furthermore, as there are merely two male attention workers at the administration it was hard for Barncroft to apportion one of them to make intensive work with J. Therefore, I was allocated as it was an ideal chance for Barncroft to utilize me to make intensive work with him because I am a male. A To be able to sufficiently work with J and to derive a greater understanding about this undertaking I familiarised my ego with relevant policies for e.g. the Department of wellness s white paper on Valuing people a new scheme for larning disablement for the twenty-first century . I besides familiarised my ego with cardinal statute laws for e.g. 3.3 of the Mental Health Act 1983, NHSCC Act 1990, and the Health and Safety at Work Act ( 1974 ) . As a consequence this enabled me to travel frontward and experience confident to be able to set about this undertaking. A Analysis of procedure A ; accomplishments employed A The first contact with a possible service user sets the tone for the remainder of your work ( Doel et al, 2005, p.61 ) . Therefore, I planned the initial contact to take topographic point in an environment he enjoyed the most which was painting. This initial contact was facilitated by my supervisor who was besides his cardinal worker. J was making a two twenty-four hours undertaking in which he had to pull and paint the things he enjoyed making the most in his life. I felt that working on this undertaking with him will be act as a foundation on set uping our relationship and assistance him to ease any awaited tenseness or edginess he may hold. Furthermore, it gave him an chance to happen out things about me. For illustration I disclosed to him that I am besides pupil like him. This brought equality to the relationship and besides enabled him to associate to me. A A formal meeting was than facilitated by his cardinal worker and the purpose of this was to give him command over by his life by leting him to do an informed pick to work with me. The GSCC codifications practise 1.3 supports this in which societal attention worker must back up service user s rights to command their lives and do informed picks about the services they receive. Furthermore, by giving him this pick we were besides advancing his independency. A Social workers must heighten the power of people who lack it and this is why I can associate authorization to this state of affairs. Empowerment helps minorities by cut downing favoritism, subjugation and devaluation ( Thomas, 2003, p.102 ) . At the nucleus of the construct is the thought of power and hence, by giving J a pick we were assisting him to increase his capacity as an person and enabling him to derive power of determination and action over his life.A A A Following the formal meeting it was of import to let J to construct a trust in me. By making this, I was able to construct a good working relationship that allowed him to work with me in an effectual manner, place ends and develop appropriate attacks for obtaining these. I clearly explained to J and ever reminded him that anything he says to me will non be passed on to other service users. This was in the remit of the administrations confidentiality policy which coincides with the GSCC codifications of practise 2.3 in which societal attention workers must esteem confidential information. A I used individual centred attack to guarantee that that everything I do is based upon what is of import to J from his ain position. Person centred planning enabled me to detect and move on what is of import to him. Furthermore, it besides allowed me to construct a shared committedness to action that recognises his rights and hence, by working together we can do alterations which will better the quality of his life. A Establishing a relationship with J required all my accomplishments in order to happen ways to associate to him. The key to working efficaciously in this scene is appropriate and effectual communicating accomplishments. Effective communicating is regarded as a tool for prosecuting with vulnerable people which helps to develop a working relationship. Trevithick ( 2006 ) outlines that like other intercessions, it is through our capacity to pass on with others that we reveal the cognition, accomplishments and understanding that we can utilize to organize good, positive and strong permanent relationships ( Trevithick, 2006, P117 ) . Therefore, in order to turn to J s issues I used different methods of communicating. Although most of our communicating was through address I besides used activities to pass on with him for e.g. soft music, art, makaton, etc.A A Body linguistic communication was besides an of import method of communicating. For illustration while sitting down I would do certain that I was ever as the same tallness as him which ensured equality. Besides whilst seated I would on a regular basis alter my position in order to exemplify active hearing and take part in the treatment. Furthermore, other accomplishments I used in our relationship included consciousness, experimental accomplishments, end puting accomplishments, listening accomplishments, being empathic and self cognizant as possible. A Each hebdomad I used my interview accomplishments to hold a one to one session with J and worked with him in order to put a undertaking for that hebdomad which would heighten a peculiar type of accomplishment. However, in the beginning he needed changeless motive and positive interaction, as he frequently found it hard to speak and show his feelings and ideas. I worked with J in a non-oppressive mode, by leting him to work at his ain gait. Each hebdomad we reviewed how far and how good he was executing in his given undertakings and besides placing countries where he was fighting and needed support and how I could help him. A An illustration of a successful undertaking we worked on was hebdomad 9 in which J took portion in horticulture. The purpose of this undertaking was to enable him to work with other pupils in order to accomplish a common end. This was a hands-on attack undertaking which involved working with other pupils and back uping them. I was afraid that due to certain environmental factors such as it being a hot twenty-four hours he may exhibit effusion of aggression towards others nevertheless, this was non the instance as I observed that he to the full engaged in this undertaking by assisting and back uping other pupils. In contemplation, does J hold the capacity to work with people? I think he does. Besides this undertaking extends his skyline as he gets ocular experience and can experience to be happy by working with others.A A A A A A I used cognitive behavioral therapy as a method of intercession in order to turn to his strong emotions. Cognitive-behavioural methods are curative processs which focus on altering ideas and feelings aboard, alternatively of or as a precursor to, altering behaviors ( Payne, 2002 P122 ) . This attack aims to step in by altering the manner he thinks and enabling him to get by in nerve-racking state of affairss. As a consequence to pull off his aggression I took history of his larning disablement as it was of import to guarantee that I used relevant societal work methods. Besides by analyzing why he becomes aggressive I used behaviour alteration as a method of alteration. I did this by learning him that being aggressive towards others was incorrect and invariably reinforced him. However, I used low degree penalty if he did something wrong for illustration taking away his picture privileges for a twenty-four hours. Furthermore I besides used patterning behavior with the purpose that J c an pattern his behavior by larning from me and others around him.A A A A A Barriers A In any societal worker/client relationship there is ever a possible hazard of there being barriers whether it s a personal awaited barrier or an existent barrier. This was besides present in the class of set uping an appropriate and productive relationship with J as I assumed that barriers may impact my working relationship with him. A As J has larning disablement I anticipated that I will happen it hard to pass on with him because I would non cognize his methods of communicating. Therefore, I questioned myself on how I was traveling set up a relationship with person who I can non pass on with. A The deficiency of communicating accomplishments is a common denominator. One attack is the societal theoretical account of disablement and its deductions to societal work. The societal theoretical account of disablement defines disablement as the social response to damage ( Grant et Al, 2005, p.725 ) . The challenge is the degree of penetration that would ease communicating in service user/worker relationship because it is hard to ease each individual s usage of linguistic communication and signifier of communicating of their choice.A Tom Shakespeare ( 2003 ) sums it up when he stated that people are disabled by societal barriers and failures of proviso, non by their organic structure ( Cited in Grant et al, 2005, p.725 ) . A In order to understate the impact of this I needed to alter my communicating technique in manner by accommodating to his communicating demands. However, I had to make this without being patronizing because this can happen within any kind of laden minority group in which the worker feels that they are better than the service user and this is non the function of a societal worker.A A I anticipated age to be a possible barrier because he was a 40 nine twelvemonth old vulnerable grownup who has larning disablement and I am a 20 two twelvemonth old adult male. Thompson ( 1997 ) province s that age is non merely a simple affair of biological maturation-it is besides a societal division ; it is a dimension of the societal construction on the footing of which power, privilege and chances tend to be allocated ( Thompson, 1997 ) . A Age was ab initio an existent barrier because the fact was that although he was an grownup he had a developmental age of 7-8 twelvemonth old. This was a challenge because I had to take history of his developmental age but at the same clip I had to recognize that he was nt a kid. The challenge was that as he has low developmental age old I could nt work out this. Therefore, the trouble was that how can I work with a individual of 40 nine who does non hold the rational ability to believe within the model of an adult.A A A A A On the other manus to understate this impact as a worker I was cognizant of his single human rights in conformity with values and moralss b.Therefore, I treated him as an person but at the same clip took history of his developmental age.A A I besides anticipated race to be a possible barrier as I am an Asiatic immature male and he is a white center aged adult male. I felt that this would impact my working relationship with him because as I was the lone Asiatic male in Barncroft he might happen it uncomfortable to work with me. As a consequence I had uncertainties on how far I would be able to help him. Furthermore, I besides thought I might happen it hard to sympathize with him on certain issues sing our different cultural backgrounds. A This was non an existent barrier in practise and hence, I did non hold to fix in order to understate the impact. However, in contemplation, if this was a job than as a professional I would hold worked efficaciously with J by handling him as an person. Respecting his positions and wants and besides esteeming diverseness and different civilizations and values in line with the 1.1, 1.2 and 1.6 of GSCC codification of pattern. A Finally, I besides anticipated the issue of power to be a barrier in this instance me being powerful and J being powerless. Harmonizing to Adams ( 2003 ) service users are normally people who are comparatively powerless in contrast to societal workers who are comparatively powerful ( Adams, 2003, p.76 ) . The impression power/powerlessness issues in about all societal attention worker/ client relationship. I was cognizant that if this power is used negatively it can convey favoritism, subjugation and inequality and as a consequence I would non be able to set up a good working relationship. A A A A A However, in order to understate the impact of this I used my cognition and experience to ever advance anti-discriminatory practise every bit good as advancing values and moralss a, B, degree Celsius, vitamin D, vitamin E, and f. I worked with J to enable any barriers which do non let control of his life to be removed. This enabled him a sense of power alternatively of impotence and lead to him being empowered in his life. Furthermore, I used professionalism at all times and used the power I had constructively as a utile toolA to advance equal chance for him in line with 1.5 of the GSCC codification of practise.A A Closing A Closing is an emotional constituent in any societal worker/ client relationship. I was cognizant that after my arrangement coatings I ca nt put any more clip with J and I will hold to go forth him behind. Therefore, at the formal meeting I informed him that I will merely be working with him for 70 five yearss. A I knew that I am working with him as a societal attention worker and non as a friend. I was cognizant that the purpose of the relationship is to assist J increase his consciousness and to heighten his accomplishments which will assist him cut down his aggression towards others and this will be good to his life. However, I was besides cognizant that by ask foring him to be dependent on the relationship at the terminal of the arrangement I will hold introduce him back to his independency as this is the kindest thing I could for him. A Achieving relationship closing is non an easy undertaking nevertheless, my attack to societal work is steadfastly rooted in the belief that each individual must be treated as an person and hence, in J s instance I made sure that he was ever informed although I recognised his restrictions. As the arrangement bit by bit came to an terminal, I ever reminded him that I am besides a pupil and that I have to travel back to school as this gave him adequate clip and notice to digest the information. On my last twenty-four hours of arrangement I decently said good pass and detached because it will be inappropriate to remain in touch as I would non be able to maintain my promises.A A A I can associate loss and mourning to this state of affairs because he will travel through a grieving procedure and will hold to accept the world of this separation and loss. As one of the reactions to heartache is anger I was afraid when I leave he will go aggressive towards staff and/or other service users. However, parametric quantities were in topographic point for his cardinal worker to pull off any state of affairs as she is a sure individual with old ages of experience. Furthermore, parametric quantities were besides set up to offer J support and would be interceding with other bureaus ( if required ) to offer services and to ease him back to independency. This is supported by Oswin ( 1993 ) who states that people with larning troubles need clip to retrieve, and sensitive support as they go through normal reactions of heartache such as choler, crying and depression ( Cited in Thomas et Al, 2003, p. 130 ) . A Evaluation A Before coming to Barncroft I did non hold any experience working with people with learning disablement. The arrangement enabled me to acquire out of my comfort zone and work in a new surrounding. However, I was able to derive a wealth of cognition from this experience and develop my apprehension of this service user group. In measuring my established relationship with J, I feel that there is plentifulness of grounds to propose it was successful and I was able to accomplish my purposes of the battle. I feel that I was able to act upon and impact J positively within professional societal work moralss. Throughout the working relationship I did non detect any incidence of aggressive behavior towards staff member or service users.A However, on a one off peculiar twenty-four hours I was on survey leave and was told by my supervisor that an incidence took topographic point during tiffin clip in which J had hit another service user because she sat on the same chair that I normally sit on. Although this showed the intimacy he felt in our working relationship, I feel that this incidence illustrates he had become excessively dependent. Therefore, I recognise that I should hold placed more distance in the attention worker/ pupil relationship. A A A A A A Another grounds to propose the battle was successful is each hebdomad I observed that by finishing undertakings successfully J had enhanced a peculiar life accomplishment. For e.g. gardening undertaking in hebdomad 9 I noticed he had improved his people working accomplishments and sharing skills.A A A A manner I recognise that the battle could hold been better is holding more clip with J alternatively of 70 five yearss because it is a slow procedure and I feel by holding more clip it may hold been more good to him. A Decision A Despite non holding any experience working with this service user group this arrangement has provided me a great trade of cognition and penetration into lives of people with learning disablement. I feel that from my working relationship with J I was able to lend positively to his life.A I used appropriate theoretical constructs -e.g. individual centred attack, cognitive behavioral therapy, behaviour alteration, communicating theoretical accounts and the societal -v- medical theoretical accounts of disablement and/or mental wellness. This gave me the ability to sufficiently work with J and enabling him to get down larning new skills.A A Get the better ofing anticipated and existent barriers has been the major challenge in this arrangement. However, I have grown in assurance as a prospective practician and will set this to good usage in bettering my practise further.A A A A
